I think you might try using a higher resolution for your final image. Right now it the contours are a bit pixelated which really hurts the vector art effect. It is extremely apparent where a dark shade hits a light shade. Also it seems like there are some gaps between a few of the colors especially in the faces but i think that may also have been caused by the resolution. The image itself is quite nice.

Dont know much about the technique but look very good. Great expressions. Is there anyway you can avoid those 'patchy faces', or is it part of the deal? :)

Seems like you're off to a good start. I think it's a good idea to begin with black and white, as it reduces the amount of variables you have to juggle when learning. Overall, the image reads clearly, but I think you might be more conscious in choosing your forms--that is, create shapes which aren't just descriptive but elegant (if that's the effect called for) and efficient.

I think this is very nice. I can certainly see Bogart and Bergman so you did a good job at making them look like who they are supposed to look like. I also like the style and simplicity of this.

@ Daykan: thanks, dudeman !!
@ Sharkh20: thanks !
@ Roadrunner: surely it's possible to avoid the 'patchy faces', but I like this effect, it looks a bit abstract. Thanks for your comment !
@ chickenfingers: Thanks !!

Inkscape is a pretty good program. Used for a few vectors myself. Keep working on getting your polygons to flow better with the contours of the face. :)

Works well :)
The shadow on Bergman's nose to the right of the nose looks a bit strange like her nose it cut of there, so maybe you want to tweak it a bit?

I don't really understand how you've made it , but it looks great. I'd like some more details at the background.Good job!

im a fan of greyscale vector studies although ive never heard of inkscape till now.

in illustrator, i would slightly tighten up the more defined areas around the lips somewhat by using the benzier tool. i have no idea how that would come accross on inkscape but ill try it out.
